The Road

4 piece band doing a very eclectic mix of electric guitar – based pop rock covers, all the way from the 60s to the present day. Everything from The Strokes to Bowie to The Byrds to Teenage Fanclub to the Killers all the way up to Weezer and James Bay and back to Blue Oyster Cult, we cater for everyone, while only playing songs we all love. Vocalist John McIntosh (brother of Deacon Blue’s Lorraine McIntosh) , bass player Billy Walker and drummer Frank McHugh formed Glasgow alt. country band The Rodneys, while guitar maestro Charlie Irvine (and Frank) recorded and toured the USA with their 80s Glasgow band Lies Damned Lies. With genuine classic songs, superb playing and sweet vocal harmonies, The Road can do it all. Come and check us out – and bring your dancing shoes!

The band’s distinctive sound and look is a result of four unique musicians coming together to create an extraordinary fusion. Rehearsing original songs in the streets of Glasgow, Scotland, was the sound board and birth of the band. Jazz Pack’s versatile line up enables the band to perform a repertoire of easy listening mainstream jazz styles. Swing, BeBop, Latin, Funk, with arrangements from stage and screen musicals included, plus a little bit of Blues and Jazz Rock thrown in for good measure.

After touring with Imelda May and having played on the Grassroots stage at Belladrum, sharing the bill with the likes of KT Tunstall and Badly Drawn Boy, Lynsey took a few years off to start a family but now Lynsey and the boys are back this year, stronger than ever, promoting their latest album, (Connection – recorded at Rockfield Studios), and wowing audiences at festivals and venues all over the UK.

Moved to New Orleans in 1994 and quickly established himself as a leader in the styles of music associated with that town, namely traditional jazz and New Orleans RnB. Tom is highly in demand internationally as both a sideman and band leader/ composer and he routinely works on projects with other high profile musicians such as Evan Christopher, John Boutte and Irma Thomas. Tom has released 17 CDs and received praise from prestigious publications such as The New York Times, Rolling Stone and The Los Angeles Times. Since 2001 he has devoted much time travelling to Brazil, where he has studied and recorded choromusic.
